If You’ll Bear With Me…

I am often given opportunities to review products or websites and more often than not I decline, accepting only the offers that I feel I can really work into a post relevant to Travels With Miranda.
This morning, I was sitting here with fifty dollars worth of offers in my inbox, deleted all but one, and then thought “Am I INSANE?!” This is a lot of free (and easy!) money to throw out when I can write about anything I like so long as I link to the website I’m reviewing. I can go on a rant about how much I hate the product or otherwise work it into a post that would be interesting to my readers.
Most often, I’m not allowed to say that a post is sponsored, but it’s usually pretty obvious and I do give one big hint that I’ve so far been able to get away with. I tag sponsored posts with ‘awfos’ (A Word From Our Sponsors). So, if you see a post with that tag, don’t roll your eyes but rather consider that these posts will make it possible for me to write the posts you come here for, like write-ups of day trips or updates on my renos.
Now that I’m going to post this, I bet the flow of offers will stop because that’s always how things work out, but let’s hope that it doesn’t!

Steve has just been waiting for this moment to send you his latest OLED screen ebook killer to evaluate!! Why have you waited so long? If someone wants to pay you to evaluate something, take their money and run to fill the tank. Just be honest. There are too many magazines on the racks taking sponsor money, writing sponsor evaluations and not being honest because of the ads.
I don’t mind, I totally get it.
It looks like you will be getting a brief reprieve from the rain tonight. The next system hits at noon tomorrow. You have not washed away yet so you should be OK from now on. I always said it is better to splash through it that to shovel it!
Norman, I always told myself I wouldn’t be a ‘sell-out.’ It took me a while to realise that I can take advertising money and still keep my intergrity. Better to wake up now than not at all, I guess!
1001 Petals, thank you!
Croft, I find endless days of rain to be tougher to live through than frigid cold with clear blue skies. And, yet, I’ve twice chosen the former over the latter and will continue to try to avoid true winter for as long as I can and miss it terribly. I am so full of contradictions!
Power to you! If someone is ready to pay for you commentaries (good or bad), why not. Hey, you got me to buy the Dr. Oetker’s pizzas
Did I really? I thought that everyone knew that they are FANTASTIC!
