A Surprise in the Mail

There was an envelope in the mail box for me this morning and I thought it was from Jody. Nope. It was a magazine and I was on the cover!

  • Nice article and the same magazine is available as an e-magazine so anyone can read it. Great!

  • The print and online articles aren’t exactly the same. The print one has a bit more content!

  • Thanks for that link, Gary!

  • Yes, thanks, Gary. Your link made it easier for me to read one more story about Rae and her adventures which I always enjoy doing.

  • RV West is how I got connected to your blog etc. You have provided great information & since I am usually camping without my husband I decided to purchase your e book Full time RVing. It is a great resource for me and I have a better understanding of how things work & energy savings as I dry camp mostly. I didn’t know there was a name for camping without water & power services :) I feel even more adventurous referring to it as boon docking!! I will be investing in solar panels next year rather than replacing our generator. I don’t particularly enjoy hearing them running for hours at campsites & I physically have great difficulty starting one. Less to pack, less impact on the environment & my fellow campers. I had a horrible experience in a local provincial campground when my neighbor was allowed to run his generator 11pm-12:30am & 5:30am-7am the next morning without any repercussions or response from security. I am replacing the bulbs over my stove & table with LED bulbs since these are the light I use the most. The price has not gone down but I feel they will be worth the investment. Good luck with your repairs, I had a very disappointing experience with a Ford Dealer in town last summer. I set off on a long road trip to meet a friend & do some camping expecting my vehicle had been properly serviced & it broke down 2 hours from home. I didn’t realize at the time I could have claimed some of my expenses for trip interruption, another gem I picked up from you sharing your recent story. Thank you Rae, you are an inspiration & encouragement to me. I have well meaning friends who question my going camping alone. I love camping, my husband doesn’t, so it’s either stay home or go alone. It can be done safely and knowledge is a very important tool, you have provided a great resource.

  • Geri, comments like that makes me think I should subtitle the blog: “Making mistakes so you don’t have to!” :D

I get what you mean about generators running at bad times. That said, I have encountered almost noiseless gennies and, really, there’s no replacement for them when you have several overcast days in a row and no way to plug in.

    Thank you for your comment!
